Chinese and Foreign Dialogue | Internationally renowned hematologist Professor Andreas E. Kulozik was invited to visit and exchange ideas at our hospital
To enhance the exchange in the field of hematology and integrated diagnostics internationally, and to promote academic exchanges and discussions between the GoBroad Healthcare Group and international experts, from Octobr 20th to 23rd, Director Liu Shuangyou of the GoBroad Medical Institute of Hematology (Beijing Center),Beijing GoBroad Boren Hospital, on behalf of the hospital, specially invited Professor Andreas E. Kulozik, a pediatric hematology/oncology professor from Heidelberg University, the head of the Department of Hematology/Oncology/Immunology at the University of Heidelberg Children's Hospital, a member of the European Molecular Biology Organization, and an academician of the German Academy of Sciences, to visit Boren Hospital and conduct an international hematological expert exchange symposium.
On the morning of October 22nd, Professor Kulozik arrived at Boren Hospital, where he was warmly welcomed by Director Liu Shuangyou, an expert in immunotherapy, Chief Operating Officer Liu Ran, other department heads, and hospital leaders. Subsequently, they accompanied Professor Kulozik on a tour of the hospital, including the transplant and general hematology wards, and the MICM laboratory.
During the visit, Liu Ran introduced to Professor Kulozik that, under the leadership of Director Tong Chunrong, the immunotherapy team has made outstanding achievements in immune and targeted therapy after more than six years of continuous research and exploration. The team uses CAR-T sequential therapy, combining strategic treatments to enhance long-term progression-free and relapse-free survival rates; they explore the mechanisms of relapse in CAR-T therapy to provide stratified treatment and have developed and implemented a CAR-T clinical management system; they flexibly apply CAR-T in combination with other treatments, especially for refractory and relapsed acute B lymphoblastic leukemia, acute T lymphoblastic leukemia, lymphoma.
The treatment and exploration of diseases such as acute myeloid leukemia have yielded fruitful results. Professor Kulozik also spoke highly of the medical team’s strength and the advanced facilities and equipment in the laboratory.
After the tour, Professor Kulozik, along with Director Liu Shuangyou, Director Liu Ying, Director Zheng Qinlong, Director Yu Xinjian, and other experts, gathered in the hospital’s conference room. They were joined online by Director Zhang Kejian, Director Pan Jing, Director Guo Ligai, and other hematology and laboratory diagnostic specialists, to hold an international hematological expert exchange symposium.
Liu Ran first extended a warm welcome to Professor Kulozik on behalf of the hospital and expressed the hope that this exchange would enhance the level of medical services and promote stronger international cooperation in the future. Subsequently, Professor Kulozik shared his expertise on the topic of "Mechanisms of Treatment Resistance and Relapse in T-ALL" with the attending experts. During the discussion, Professor Kulozik had an in-depth dialogue and exchange with Director Zheng Qinlong, Director Zhang Kejian, and other participating experts. The atmosphere of the on-site discussion was enthusiastic, and the young doctors from our hospital expressed that they benefited greatly from the exchange.
On the afternoon of October 22nd, accompanied by Director Liu Shuangyou, Professor Kulozik visited Beijing GoBroad Hospital. In addition to the tour, he gained further understanding of the hospital's development goals, discipline construction, talent team, teaching and research, management characteristics, and hospital cultural philosophy.
On October 23rd, Professor Kulozik was invited to visit the Institute of Hematology at the Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences (the Hematology Institute of the Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences) and gave a professional academic lecture on "Gene Therapy of the Hemoglobin Diseases".
He engaged in exchanges and discussions with outstanding domestic experts and young scholars in the field of hematology, where the academic atmosphere was exceptionally strong.
The successful conduct of this international academic exchange not only helped the clinicians of Boren Hospital to further broaden their diagnostic and treatment ideas and perspectives but also accumulated valuable experience for the hospital's medical and research level in hematologic oncology. In the future, we also hope to have more in-depth exchanges and cooperation with more industry leaders in the field of hematologic oncology diagnosis, treatment, and research, based on mutual understanding, to benefit more patients with hematologic tumors!
